Grow Digital Voucher Ireland 2025: A €5,000 Digital Boost for Construction SMEs
Irish contractors, builders, plumbers, electricians, and other tradespeople: imagine getting up to €5,000 in government funding to adopt new digital tools for your business. That’s exactly what the Grow Digital Voucher offers in 2025. This friendly guide breaks down the current eligibility, how to apply, what it covers (and doesn’t), why it’s great for construction businesses, how to prepare, and how a digital agency (like ours) can help you every step of the way.
What is the Grow Digital Voucher?
The Grow Digital Voucher – also called the Grow Digital Grant – is a new government-backed initiative in Ireland designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) “thrive in the digital age”. Funded under Ireland’s Digital Transition Fund as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, it provides up to €5,000 (50% matched funding) for investing in digital tools, software, and training. In short, it’s a grant that covers half the cost of qualifying digital projects, with a minimum grant of €500 and a max of €5,000 per business.
This voucher essentially replaces the older Trading Online Voucher (TOV) scheme that many micro-businesses used in past years. But Grow Digital is bigger and better: it offers double the funding (up to €5k vs €2.5k) and is open to larger small businesses (those with up to 50 employees, whereas TOV was for 10 or fewer). It also has a broader focus – not just building websites or e-commerce, but funding a “wider range of digital solutions” like customer management software, cloud accounting systems, cybersecurity tools, and more In the words of Minister Dara Calleary, this voucher “will help businesses invest in digital offerings for their operational needs, such as software tools to offer online booking, AI to streamline stock control and of course cybersecurity support”. Ultimately, the goal is to help local businesses streamline operations, reach new customers online, and stay competitive in today’s tech-driven market.
Key facts about the Grow Digital Voucher: It’s available through your Local Enterprise Office (LEO) in every county. It covers 50% of eligible project costs (you pay the other half), and you can even apply for it twice (for two projects), as long as the total grant you get doesn’t exceed €5,000. The funding comes as a reimbursement grant – you’ll typically need to complete the approved digital project and then claim back the 50% funding from LEO. This makes it a fantastic opportunity to invest in improving your business with substantially less financial strain.
Eligibility: Can Your Business Apply?
Not every business automatically qualifies, so let’s check the eligibility criteria. The Grow Digital Voucher is aimed at small businesses, and the current criteria (as of 2025) are as follows:
Business Size: You must employ between 1 and 50 people. (Both sole traders and companies can apply, as long as you have at least one employee – even if that’s just you as the owner.)
Trading History: Your business should be established and trading for at least 6 months. In other words, startups younger than 6 months old can’t apply yet.
Location: You need to be registered and operating in an area served by a Local Enterprise Office (LEO). Essentially, this covers all of Ireland via the 31 LEOs – just apply through the LEO for your county or city.
Digital Preparedness:Importantly, you must have completed a “Digital for Business” project within the last two years. This is a prerequisite many aren’t aware of. The Digital for Business programme is a free advisory service (formerly called Digital Start) where a consultant evaluates your business and helps create a digital strategy plan. In short, you need to have undergone this digital assessment/planning process before you can get the voucher. (If you haven’t done it yet, don’t worry – we’ll explain how to get this in the application steps. It’s provided at no cost to you, funded by the LEO, and gives you a tailored digital roadmap)
Not an Enterprise Ireland Client: The scheme is for locally supported businesses, so if your business is already a client of Enterprise Ireland or IDA Ireland, you are not eligible. Most construction trades and local SMEs won’t be EI or IDA clients, so this usually isn’t an issue.
Tax Compliance and Solvency: You must be tax compliant and solvent. You’ll need to show a valid Tax Clearance from Revenue (by providing your Tax Reference Number and Tax Clearance Access Number), and submit financial statements to demonstrate your business is financially sound. Essentially, the LEO wants to ensure your business is genuine, active, and in good standing.
Avoiding “Deadweight”: The project you’re seeking funding for shouldn’t be something you would definitely do anyway without the grant. (This is a technical way of saying the grant shouldn’t just reward you for a project that was already going ahead regardless. So, in your application, you should be able to argue that the funding is needed to make the project possible or to do it sooner/more completely.)
The good news is businesses in any sector – including construction, trades, retail, services, etc. – can qualify as long as they meet the above criteria. Unlike some past grants, it doesn’t matter whether you export or not; this support is open to purely local businesses too. Also, even if you’ve availed of one or even two Trading Online Vouchers in the past, you can still apply for the Grow Digital Voucher. In fact, many who used the TOV to build a website can now use Grow Digital to take the next digital step (like integrating a job management app or CRM).
Quick eligibility check for a construction SME: Are you a registered business (sole trader or limited company) in Ireland that’s been active 6+ months, with under 50 staff? Have you done the Digital for Business consultation project in the last two years? If yes, and you’re tax compliant, then you’re likely eligible to apply!
(Tip: If you’re not sure about the Digital for Business requirement or haven’t done it yet, contact your Local Enterprise Office – they can set you up with that program so you become eligible. More on this in the application steps below.)
Not every business automatically qualifies.
What Expenses Does the Voucher Cover (and Not Cover)?
It’s crucial to know what you can spend this grant on. The Grow Digital Voucher is specifically aimed at software, digital tools, and related training or IT services that will help your business. It is not for general expenses or custom development. Here’s a breakdown:
✅ Covered (Eligible) Expenses: Think of off-the-shelf digital solutions and the know-how to use them. The voucher can co-fund things like:
Software Subscriptions & Licenses: for example, a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to track leads, an inventory management or stock control software, data analytics tools to understand your business performance, or cybersecurity software to protect your data. Essentially, most third-party software or cloud services that improve efficiency or sales can qualify.
Specific Digital Tools for Your Industry: such as cloud-based accounting packages (e.g. accounting software to manage invoices and payroll), job tracking and workflow management apps (great for construction projects to track progress and tasks), or electronic invoicing systems to speed up getting paid. Even more advanced tech like AI-powered analytics, industry-specific SaaS solutions, or 3D modeling software for plans and designs could be covered if relevant to your business needs.
Training and IT Configuration Services: The voucher also supports the training of you and your staff to use new digital systems, as well as any necessary IT setup or configuration costs. For example, if you’re implementing a new software tool, you could use the funding to pay an expert to set it up properly and train your team on it. This is great because it ensures you don’t just buy software – you actually know how to use it effectively.
In short, the funds can be used to both purchase technology and to bring in experts who help integrate that tech into your business. For a construction or trades business, that might mean buying licenses for a construction project management app and paying a consultant to customize it to your workflow, or subscribing to a scheduling software and getting training for your office manager to use it. It could also include upgrading your website or adding online booking functionality (since those involve software and web development services to broaden your online reach, which is very much in line with the voucher’s goals of reaching new customers). The official line is that it “goes beyond the previous Trading Online Voucher”, allowing you to implement all kinds of digital enhancements – from cloud accounting to AI analytics to cybersecurity upgrades. So there’s a lot of flexibility to choose solutions that make sense for your business.
🚫 Not Covered (Ineligible) Expenses: The scheme does have some restrictions on what it won’t fund, to make sure the money is used for the intended purpose (digital adoption). According to the guidelines, the voucher will not cover the following:
Custom-Built Software or Bespoke Development: If you were thinking about hiring a developer to build a completely custom application or system from scratch solely for your business, that’s not eligible. The grant is meant for proven, existing technologies (and related services) rather than funding brand-new software development.
Regulatory Compliance Systems: Software or systems that are primarily designed to meet regulatory or legal compliance obligations (rather than improving efficiency or sales) are excluded. For instance, a system you’re required to implement just to comply with a law would likely not be funded, since you’d have to do that regardless. The focus is on voluntary digital improvements that boost your business.
Upgrades to Existing Software Licenses: You can’t use the voucher to simply extend or renew what you already have. For example, if you already use a certain accounting software and just want to buy more user licenses or renew it for another year, that wouldn’t count – there has to be a new digital capability being adopted.
Hardware or Equipment: Although not explicitly stated in the bullet points, it’s important to note that this is not a hardware grant. Buying laptops, smartphones, printers, machinery, or other physical tech gear is outside the scope. The funding is for soft infrastructure (software, cloud services, training), not hard infrastructure.
Regular Business Costs or Marketing Spend: The voucher also won’t cover things like ongoing marketing budgets (e.g. Google Ads credit, social media ad spend) or standard business operating costs (rent, salaries, routine website hosting fees, etc.). The expenditure needs to be part of a project that transforms your business digitally, not just day-to-day costs.
Always check with your LEO if you are unsure whether a particular cost is eligible. They will clarify what’s allowed. But as a rule of thumb: if the expense directly contributes to new digital capabilities in your business (software or skills), it’s likely eligible; if it’s a tangential cost or something you’d classify as a normal operational expense, it’s probably not.
How to Apply for the Grow Digital Voucher (Step-by-Step)
Applying for the Grow Digital Voucher is a straightforward process, but there are a few steps to get ready before you fill in the form. Below is a step-by-step guide to help busy business owners through it:
1. Complete a “Digital for Business” Project (Pre-Requirement). Before you can apply for the voucher itself, you must have completed the Digital for Business programme within the last two years. This is essentially a digital assessment and planning service offered via the Local Enterprise Offices. If you haven’t done this yet, your first step is to contact your Local Enterprise Office and ask to participate in the Digital for Business program. LEOs have digital consultants who will work with you for a few days to analyze your business’s digital needs and prepare a report/recommendations. The great thing is that this service is fully funded (free) for you – normally worth up to €3,500 for 3-5 days of consultancy. Once completed, you’ll have a Digital for Business report in hand (your digital game plan), and you’re officially eligible to proceed with the Grow Digital application. (If you’ve already done this within the past two years, you can check this box and move to the next step.)
2. Talk to Your Local Enterprise Office and Gather Information. It’s recommended to have an initial chat with your LEO before applying. They can confirm your eligibility, explain any local intake procedures, and answer questions. Often, they’ll guide you on how to structure your application for success. Use this opportunity to clarify anything about what projects they’re looking to fund or any upcoming deadlines (some LEOs might have application windows or limited budgets). Additionally, at this stage you should identify the digital project you want to get funding for – likely something highlighted in your Digital for Business report. For example, maybe the report suggested implementing a CRM system, a new website with booking functionality, or a field service management app for your plumbing business. Pin down exactly what you plan to do with the voucher, because you’ll need to describe it in the application. It’s wise to also get quotes or estimates from potential suppliers for the software/services you’ll purchase. While the application may not require attaching all quotes, knowing the costs will help you request an appropriate grant amount and show that you’ve done your homework.
3. Prepare the Required Documents. Before filling out the online form, get your paperwork in order so you can complete the application in one go. According to the LEO application guidelines, you will need to have:
Financial Statements: Your latest annual signed accounts (profit/loss, balance sheet). If your business is less than 1 year old (but over 6 months), then recent management accounts will suffice. These documents show that you are trading and solvent.
Business Registration Details: You’ll need to declare your business structure (sole trader, partnership, limited company, etc.) and likely provide your business name and possibly registration number if a company. Basically, have your basic company info ready.
Tax Details: As noted, you must be tax compliant. So have your Tax Reference Number (e.g. VAT or income tax number) and your Tax Clearance Access Number from Revenue. The online form will ask for these to verify your tax clearance status. If you don’t have a tax clearance cert yet, you should apply for one via Revenue’s online system beforehand. It’s free, but do it early as you’ll need that access code.
Digital for Business Report: While not explicitly listed on the form requirements, you should have your Digital for Business project report ready. The LEO may ask for proof that you completed this prerequisite, or at least for you to reference the recommendations in it.
Project Plan / Quotes: Again, not a formal “required document,” but it will strengthen your application to have a clear project plan and maybe a quote from your chosen vendor or service provider. You might include details like which software you intend to buy, the provider’s name, the cost, and what outcomes you expect (e.g. “Implementing JobTrack Pro software for job scheduling at a cost of €8,000, of which €4,000 is sought from the voucher”). This shows the evaluators that you have a concrete, thought-out plan – not just a vague idea.
Having all this information ready will make the online application (which takes about 10 minutes to fill out) go smoothly. There’s nothing worse than starting the form and realising you have to go digging for a document, so gather these first.
4. Submit the Online Application Form. Click here for the link. Applications are submitted through the official online portal (often a Submit.com form provided by LEO). Once you’ve logged in/registered on that portal, you’ll fill in sections that typically include: business details, confirmation of eligibility criteria (they might ask you to tick a box confirming you did the Digital for Business program, etc.), a description of your proposed digital project, and the cost breakdown. You will upload the required financial statements and any other requested docs. Be sure to double-check everything for accuracy. The form will also have you input the Tax Reference Number and Tax Clearance Access Number to verify your tax compliance. Submit the application before any stated deadline. (At the time of writing, the Grow Digital Voucher is open on a rolling basis, but it’s wise to apply early since funding may be limited – more on that later.)
5. Wait for Approval (and Respond to Any Queries). After submission, your Local Enterprise Office will review the application. They might contact you if they need additional info or clarification. Otherwise, you will get a decision in writing. If approved, you’ll receive a Letter of Offer/Grant Agreement outlining the terms – typically, the grant amount approved and the timeframe you have to complete the project. The approval may specify which costs are sanctioned. Make sure to sign/return any required acceptance form promptly so that you can proceed.
6. Implement Your Digital Project. With approval in hand, it’s time to carry out the project. You’ll usually be given a defined timeline by the LEO (for example, you might be required to complete the project within, say, 3 or 6 months of approval – the exact timeline will be provided in your grant details). During this period, go ahead and purchase/install the software, develop the website, or undertake whatever work was approved. Important: Keep proof of all payments (invoices marked paid, receipts, bank statements, etc.), as well as evidence of the outcomes (like the URL of your new website, or screenshots of the software in use, etc.). The grant is typically paid after you have incurred and paid for the approved costs, so record-keeping is key.
7. Claim the Grant Reimbursement. Once the project is completed, you will submit a claim back to the LEO for the 50% grant amount. They will usually require copies of invoices and proof of payment to verify you spent money on the approved items, and possibly a short report or confirmation that the project is in place. After processing, they will reimburse the grant (up to €5,000) into your bank account. And that’s it – your business now has new digital capabilities, and half the cost was covered by the government!
Throughout this process, don’t hesitate to lean on your Local Enterprise Office for guidance – they are there to help. Also, if you find paperwork and forms daunting, the next section will discuss how a digital agency or advisor can assist in making this process even easier for you.
Why the Grow Digital Voucher Is Great for Construction Businesses
If you work in the construction industry or trades (contractors, builders, carpenters, painters, plumbers, HVAC technicians, electricians, etc.), you might be wondering: Is this really for me? How exactly can going digital help my day-to-day work? The answer is that it can help in very practical, tangible ways – and the voucher makes it affordable to implement changes that you might otherwise put off. Here are some reasons why this digital grant is especially relevant and advantageous for construction-related businesses:
Streamline Project Management and Scheduling: Construction projects and trade jobs involve lots of moving parts – crews, subcontractors, schedules, materials, client communications. Using modern job tracking or project management software can be a game changer. For example, you could implement a tool that lets you schedule jobs, assign tasks to workers, track progress in real-time, and handle change orders digitally. No more relying solely on whiteboards or paper diaries that can get lost or aren’t visible to the team. With the voucher, you could get a robust project management app (there are many made for construction) and have it tailored to your business. This can dramatically improve efficiency – in fact, studies show that businesses adopting digital tools report significantly enhanced productivity (87% of participants) and smoother customer and employee interactions. Imagine finishing jobs faster and with fewer mistakes because everyone’s on the same page digitally.
Improve Customer Service and Win More Business: Many tradespeople get work via word of mouth, which is great – but more and more customers also search online for services or expect quick, tech-enabled responses. Adopting digital tools can help you reach new customers and present a more professional image. For instance, you might use the voucher to upgrade your website or set up an online booking/quote request system. That means a homeowner in need of a plumber at 9pm can submit a request through your website and perhaps even schedule an appointment window, without having to wait to call during business hours. As the Minister’s example noted, software tools for “online booking” are exactly the kind of solution this grant supports. For a builder or renovator, showcasing your portfolio on a nice website and making it easy for clients to contact you can help you stand out. Digital marketing training could also be funded – maybe you want to learn how to use social media to advertise special offers or how to improve your search ranking so local customers find you first. All these digital moves can lead to more leads and sales from an audience that might not have heard of you otherwise.
Cut Down on Paperwork and Administrative Headaches: Let’s face it, many construction SMEs drown in paperwork – receipts, invoices, timesheets, purchase orders, you name it. Going digital can relieve these burdens significantly. With the Grow Digital Voucher, you could implement electronic invoicing and accounting software to replace shoeboxes of receipts and manual invoicing. For example, a small contractor can start using a cloud accounting system that tracks expenses per project, generates invoices to clients in a few clicks (with your logo, looking very professional), and even sends automatic payment reminders. Or a payroll software that simplifies paying your crew each week. These tools reduce errors and save you time (time you can spend on actual billable work). As another example, a plumbing or electrical business could adopt a mobile app for field service management – enabling workers to log jobs done, capture customer signatures or photos on site via a tablet, and instantly sync that back to the office. No more lost job sheets or delays. By funding training along with the software, the voucher ensures you and your staff can comfortably transition to these new systems without frustration. The result is a more organised operation where information is at your fingertips.
Enhance Safety, Quality, and Compliance: Digital tools can also help maintain high quality and safety standards on the job. While the voucher won’t cover compliance-only systems, many productivity tools indirectly improve compliance. For instance, using a project management or checklist app can ensure that every step in a construction project is documented and nothing gets overlooked, which means safer outcomes. You might also invest in 3D modeling or CAD software if you do design/build work, which can improve accuracy in planning renovations or installations. Better planning and visualization leads to fewer on-site errors, saving money and maintaining a good reputation.
Stay Competitive in a Changing Market: The construction industry, like others, is becoming more tech-driven. Larger contractors already use Building Information Modeling (BIM), drones for site surveys, IoT sensors, etc. While as a small trades business you might not need all the high-end tech, adopting even a few digital practices can keep you competitive against larger firms. It shows clients you’re modern and efficient. It also positions you to handle bigger contracts that might require digital documentation or communication. The government created this voucher specifically to help SMEs “bridge the digital gap and compete effectively in today’s marketplace” In other words, it’s there to ensure that you as a local tradesperson don’t get left behind by the digital revolution. By taking advantage of it, you’re effectively investing in the longevity of your business.
To sum up, for construction and trade businesses, the Grow Digital Voucher can reduce costs, increase revenue, and save time in the long run. It can pay for systems that let you do more jobs with the same team, keep customers happier, and make your life easier when managing the business. And with 50% of the cost covered by the grant, the return on investment is highly attractive. It’s not often that busy contractors get an offer like “we’ll pay half the cost if you want to modernize your business,” so it’s worth considering seriously.
(If you’re unsure what kinds of digital tools would benefit your specific trade, that Digital for Business consultation will help identify the best opportunities. Additionally, a tech-savvy friend or a digital agency can offer suggestions. Speaking of which…)
Getting Ready to Apply: Preparation Tips and Documents
We touched on preparation in the application steps, but it’s worth highlighting a few tips to ensure your Grow Digital Voucher application is successful, especially if you’re a busy professional not used to grant paperwork:
Plan Your Digital Project with Purpose: Before applying, clearly define what you want to do with the grant and why. Maybe you want to get a new website to attract customers, or install a CRM to manage client leads, or implement a specific construction management software that was recommended to you. Having a clear project in mind will make your application stronger. The LEO will ask how this project will benefit your business – be ready to explain how it will boost efficiency, increase sales, or improve competitiveness. Tie it back to the goals of the scheme (e.g. “This will help me reach new customers online and streamline my operations, which aligns with the voucher’s aim to enhance digital competitiveness”). If you completed the Digital for Business report, use the recommendations in that report as the basis for your project – it shows alignment. For example, “Our Digital for Business report identified job scheduling as a weakness, so we plan to implement XYZ software to address that.”
Line Up a Vendor or Solution Provider: Research and choose the product or service you’ll invest in. If it’s a software subscription, get pricing. If it’s a web development or digital marketing service, talk to providers and get a quote or at least an idea of cost. This will help you fill in the budget section of the application accurately. It also avoids delays later – once approved, you can hit the ground running if you already know who will do the work (be it an IT firm, a software company, or a marketing agency). LEOs don’t usually require multiple quotes (this isn’t a public tender), but it’s smart to compare options to ensure value for money. Keep any written quotes or proposal documents; you might include them as support or need them when claiming the grant.
Ensure You Have All Documentation Ready: As noted earlier, you will need financial statements and a tax clearance. Make sure your 2024 accounts (if applying in 2025) are either filed or at least prepared and signed by you (and your accountant if you have one). If your accounting is behind, try to get it up-to-date because incomplete financials could hold up your application. For tax clearance, you can apply through the Revenue Online Service (ROS); it’s usually quick if your taxes (VAT, income tax, etc.) are in order. Double check that your business info (name, address, CRO number if company) is correct and consistent across all documents and forms.
Mind the Timing: The Grow Digital Voucher is part of a national fund, which means there’s a finite budget available. The scheme is currently open in 2025, but funding is limited – once the allocated budget is spent, new applications might be put on hold. In late 2024, the government urged businesses not to delay: “Don’t wait to take your business to the next level. The Grow Digital Voucher is [available now] with limited funding”. To avoid missing out, try to apply early in the year or as soon as you’re ready. Also, consider any internal busy seasons – a builder might not want to be implementing software in the middle of peak building season. However, note the timeline: if you apply and get approved, you’ll have a set time to implement. So if you know you’ll be very busy later, plan accordingly. Perhaps use a slightly quieter period (some trades have a lull in winter, for example) to tackle the digital project.
Get Help if Needed: If forms and funding schemes aren’t your forte, don’t go it alone. You can ask your Local Enterprise Office for help – they often run information webinars or can walk you through the application requirements. Additionally, you can enlist your accountant or a digital agency (more on that next) to assist with preparing the application. The key is to submit a complete and convincing application the first time to avoid back-and-forth or rejection due to missing info.
By preparing thoroughly, you increase your chances of a quick approval. Many tradespeople have successfully gotten grants like this by following the steps and leveraging the available help. The process might seem bureaucratic at first glance, but in reality it’s quite manageable – especially with the right guidance.
How a Marketing/Digital Agency Can Help (Guiding You Through the Process)
Embarking on a digital upgrade can feel daunting if you’re not tech-savvy. The good news is you don’t have to do it all yourself. A marketing or digital agency – like ours – can be a valuable partner to guide you through both the application process and the implementation of your digital project. Here’s how we (or a similar agency) can help busy tradespeople make the most of the Grow Digital Voucher:
Expert Advice on Digital Needs: Often, the hardest part is figuring out which digital solutions will benefit your business the most. An agency experienced in digital transformation for small businesses can sit down with you (or chat over the phone) to understand your operations and goals. We can then recommend the tools or systems that would give you the best bang for your buck. Perhaps your construction firm would benefit from a project management dashboard, or maybe your roofing business really needs an improved web presence and local SEO. We stay on top of the latest tech and industry best practices, so we can suggest solutions you might not even be aware of. This helps you craft a strong project proposal for the voucher – one that clearly addresses your business’s pain points.
Ensuring You Meet the Criteria: A digital agency familiar with these grants will check that you have all the prerequisites in place. For example, we’ll ask if you’ve done the Digital for Business program and guide you on how to do that if not. We’ll also remind you to get your financials and tax clearance in order. Essentially, we can create a little checklist with you so that when you’re ready to apply, nothing is missing. Because we’ve been through the process with other clients, we know the common pitfalls to avoid. (For instance, we know that even if you had two Trading Online Vouchers before, you’re still eligible now, so we encourage those clients to apply rather than assume they can’t.)
Help with the Application Itself: Completing forms might not be your favourite activity – but guess what, it is one of ours! We can assist in filling out the Grow Digital Voucher application form, making sure all questions are answered in a compelling way. This might involve writing the project description or justification section for you (with your input). We know the kind of language that resonates: e.g. emphasizing how the project “will streamline operations and enhance productivity” and “expand your reach to a wider audience online”– phrasing that echoes the program’s objectives. We’ll also double-check that all required documents (financial statements, tax details, etc.) are correctly attached and formatted. Think of it as having a grant application coach by your side, so you’re not tackling bureaucracy alone. Many agencies, including us, have helped dozens of businesses secure the older Trading Online Vouchers in the past, so we have a track record in navigating these funding schemes.
Providing Quotes and Project Plans: If your chosen digital project is something our agency can deliver (for example, building a website, setting up a CRM, or providing digital marketing training), we will happily provide a detailed quote or proposal that you can include in your application. This serves two purposes: (1) It gives the LEO a clear picture of what services/products the grant will pay for (which builds confidence that the project is ready to roll), and (2) it gives you clarity on the cost breakdown and deliverables. We can outline the scope of work, timeline, and costs for you to use in the application. Having a professional proposal makes your application look well-prepared and thought-out. And don’t worry – getting a quote doesn’t obligate you to use us, but it’s there as a concrete plan to move forward.
Implementing the Digital Solution: Once your grant is approved, the real work begins – and we can take that weight off your shoulders too. Our team can execute the digital project for you, be it designing a mobile-friendly website, setting up the software and configuring it to your needs, or training your staff on how to use a new system. We act as your technology partner, so you can continue focusing on your trade work while we handle the tech side. For example, if the plan is to get a new CRM and integrate it with your email and website, we’ll handle the technical setup, data import, customisation, and even create a cheat-sheet for you to manage contacts going forward. If it’s a social media marketing training, we’ll schedule sessions at convenient times and make sure by the end you feel comfortable doing it yourself. Essentially, we make sure the money you’ve gotten from the voucher is put to the best use and yields real results for your business.
Ongoing Support and ROI Tracking: After implementation, a good agency won’t just disappear. We stick around to ensure everything is working as intended. If there are any glitches or if you have questions two months later ("How do I do X in this new software?"), we’ll be there to support you. We can also help measure the impact – for instance, by setting up some analytics, we can show you how your new website is attracting more visitors, or how your new system has reduced the time you spend on admin each week. This can be reassuring, validating that your investment (and the government’s investment) is paying off. And remember, since the Grow Digital Voucher can be used twice (two projects up to a combined €5k), if you see great results from the first project, we can help you plan and apply for a second one (as long as it stays within the rules) – maybe tackling another area of your business.
In short, a digital agency serves as your guide and implementation team. We simplify the paperwork, maximise your chances of approval, and then deliver the tech solutions without you having to become an IT expert overnight. Our goal is to make the whole process hassle-free and actually enjoyable as you see your business get streamlined. We know tradespeople are extremely busy and often shudder at forms and IT issues – that’s why we offer to carry that load. It’s a bit like having an experienced foreman for your digital “build” who ensures everything goes to plan.
And one more thing: since our business thrives on word-of-mouth too, we’re genuinely invested in your success story (even if we can’t share specific cases here). When you succeed and see tangible improvements, we succeed. So we’ll bring a friendly, patient approach to working with you – no jargon overload, no pressure, just a partnership to help your business grow.

Other Digital Supports in 2025: Trading Online Voucher and Digital Start
You may have also heard of other government supports like the Trading Online Voucher or Digital Start in the past. It’s important to know where those stand as of 2025:
Digital Start / Digital for Business:Digital Start was a pilot program introduced in 2022 to provide expert help to SMEs in starting their digital journey. In mid-2023, this evolved into what’s now called Digital for Business. Essentially, Digital for Business is the continuation of Digital Start – it’s an advisory service (not a cash grant) where a consultant helps you form a digital plan. As explained earlier, completion of a Digital for Business project is now a requirement to get the Grow Digital Voucher. So, Digital Start as a standalone named scheme is no longer active; instead, you have the Digital for Business programme which is alive and well in 2025 and is the first step in the Grow Digital process. All you need to do is contact your LEO to avail of Digital for Business (if you haven’t already), and they’ll arrange a consultant to work with you. It’s fully funded and very useful in its own right. Think of it this way: Digital for Business (formerly Digital Start) gives you the digital strategy roadmap, and the Grow Digital Voucher gives you the funding to implement that strategy. Together, they form a comprehensive support for digital transformation in small businesses.
Other Supports: Beyond these, there are a few additional digital supports depending on your size and sector. For example, Enterprise Ireland has a Digital Transition Fund for medium-sized companies and manufacturers (grants can be much larger, up to €150k, for advanced digitalisation projects), but those are generally for businesses that are Enterprise Ireland clients or operating at a bigger scale than typical local contractors. For the vast majority of local construction and trade businesses, the combination of Digital for Business + Grow Digital Voucher is the main avenue to get government help for going digital in 2025. Always keep an eye on your Local Enterprise Office announcements in case new pilot programs or funding rounds come up. But rest assured, nothing as directly relevant and accessible as the Grow Digital Voucher is being left out – it’s the centerpiece now.
Trading Online Voucher (TOV): This was a long-running scheme offering up to €2,500 for businesses (up to 10 employees) to develop their online presence (often used for websites or e-commerce). As of the end of 2024, the Trading Online Voucher scheme has been phased out and closed to new applications. In fact, December 2024 was the final deadline for TOV applications. The Grow Digital Voucher has now effectively replaced TOV as the primary digital grant for small businesses. Grow Digital is more generous and inclusive (covering more types of projects and larger small firms, as discussed). So, if you missed out on TOV or are newly looking for support in 2025, Grow Digital is the scheme to pursue. There are no TOVs available anymore – but the good news is Grow Digital covers a lot that TOV did and more.
To summarise: Trading Online Voucher is discontinued (no longer available in 2025), and Digital Start has morphed into Digital for Business (the advisory service) which you should use as a stepping stone to the Grow Digital Voucher, the current grant on offer. This new framework is more streamlined: get your digital plan via Digital for Business, then get funding to execute it via Grow Digital.
Conclusion: Embrace Digital Now – Your Future Self Will Thank You
The world is moving digital, even in hands-on fields like construction and home services. The Grow Digital Voucher is a golden opportunity for Irish SMEs – especially those in the construction and trades sector – to catch up or leap ahead in the digital game without breaking the bank. It removes much of the cost barrier that might have been holding you back from investing in new technology or systems. With up to €5,000 on the table, you can take a significant step like launching an online booking system, automating your accounting, improving your website, or securing your IT infrastructure – all for half the normal cost.
What’s more, you won’t be navigating this journey alone. Between the Local Enterprise Office supports and the option to work with friendly digital experts, even the most tech-shy business owner can successfully upgrade their operations. The process is manageable: get your digital game plan (Digital for Business), apply for the voucher, and then let the professionals help implement the solutions. Many fellow business owners have done this and are now reaping the benefits – higher productivity, more customers, less stress. There’s no reason you can’t be next.
A final note of encouragement: We understand tradespeople are extremely busy keeping clients happy and projects on schedule. Taking time out to “go digital” might not seem urgent when you have jobs to finish. But think of it as working on your business, not just in your business. A small time investment now (with a lot of financial help available) can pay off in big ways down the line – giving you more capacity to take on work, more free time from admin, and more revenue streams from online customers. And since the Trading Online Voucher is gone, the Grow Digital Voucher is the flagship opportunity in 2025 to future-proof your business.
So, don’t delay too long. The funding won’t last forever, and the sooner you adopt a useful digital tool, the sooner you’ll see results. Whether you choose to handle it yourself or get an agency like ours to assist, taking that first step – contacting your LEO or reaching out for advice – is the key. Your construction business might build houses, but now it’s time to build your digital foundation. With the Grow Digital Voucher’s help, that foundation will be solid and set you up for growth in the years to come.
